Lightning Silicon Technology, Inc. (LST) is a startup spun out of Kopin Corporation (Kopin) in January 2023. Founded by former Kopin executives and engineers, LST leads the world in OLED microdisplay and optics technology. LST has licensed related foundational intellectual properties from Kopin. Former Kopin executives John Fan, Boryeu Tsaur and Hong Choi are co-founders of LST.

 

One of LST' s core technologies is Si backplane designs for OLED microdisplays. LST's patented backplane architecture offers low power consumption, fast speed, small pixel sizes, high yields, and ease of processing by any OLED deposition foundry. LST is working with Si wafer foundry partners to produce Si backplane wafers. LST provides Si backplane wafers to OLED foundries, as well as OLED microdisplays to customers.

 

LST's other core technology is optics, particularly all-plastic Pancake optics for MR, VR and AR applications. The company designs and provides Pancake optics with the highest performance, lightest weight and largest magnification factor, with the field of view up to 105° (H/V) from a 1.3" microdisplay.
